Derwent Water from Skiddaw

Derwent Water from Skiddaw, originally uploaded by stewartcutler.

I took this a couple of years ago on the way up Skiddaw in the Lake District. If you get the chance go to Keswick and climb some hills.

This looks amazing! What's the best time of year to come to Scotland to enjoy outdoor action like climbing?

First, I must confess this is England! Scotland is best between April and October if you want to be outside, although we get some snow on the mountains in winter if you like skiing and ice climbing. Depends what you like to do.

Thanks Stewart! i lived in Northern Ireland for 2 years and summers were gorgeous with daylight sticking around until 10 p.m.! i have only been to Scotland for a couple of days when i had to renew my visa. i really want to take Katryna there and meet my friends and explore. We LOVE hiking and Katryna is NOT a big fan of the cold like i am! : i took her to NI last January and she about died! LOL!!! i wnat to go hiking and exploring up to the Highlands.

Where in England do you live?

I can imagine why she nearly died!

I live in Scotland, in Hamilton just outside Glasgow. We live near the motorway so the Lake District is just as close as the mountains in Scotland. We spend quite a bit of our free time camping and walking there (as you will no doubt see from my other half, Avril aka @b_positive's photos as well as mine)
