Taken this afternoon at Cardiff Marina next to our Apartment Block! Reminded me of that scene in Amistad (if you haven't seen it you should) withe the three ship masts like crosses above the houses!

Paper Patterns
This picture is of a lamp I saw in Habitat made of folded paper! The effect was quite exquisite!

Contemplation
I have started developing a habit of actually leaving my desk at lunchtimes and taking some time out in Starbucks to relax, read and contemplate thoughts and ideas. I not only find this an excellent time for thought and musing but a good way to re-energise myself for the rest of the day!

Groom and Best Man
"Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course."
Psalm 19: 4-5 (New International Version)
Welcome?
Would you want to walk through these doors if you hadn't been here before and didn't know what to expect on the other side?

The Door
A door is the barrier from where you are to where you could be.
On the other side could be freedom, wealth, love, sunshine, comfort.
OR it could be the opening to danger, bankrupcy, hate, storms, pain.
Dare you step through?

The Holiday Book Shop
While we were in the Lake District last year on Holiday my wife and I spent a lot of money in this bookshop. I loved this little bookshop. It was unique and personal with a great vibe inside. It wasn't part of a chain but it's own entity with books crammed in every corner! I love places like this. They are unique, they have character and the people who work there really care about what they are selling. Kind of what I think church should be like!

Father, Son
"I'm walking with my father,
He's walking with his son,
No need to look any further,
for the one I have become"
Walking with my Father - Dougie Maclean
Many Nations
In Genesis 17 God tells Abraham that he will be the Father of Many Nations. This pic is a representation.
The watch belonged to my paternal Grandfather, who had brothers who emigrated to Canada and New Zealand. The pc and pen allow me to keep in touch with them, and my family in Scotland. The mouse mat has a picture of two of my children and the shirt was chosen by my wife!

Love This City
This is Cardiff. Although I am Scottish I call this home. I love this city. I believe in this city. God loves this city. God believes in this city! For that reason I endeavour to live for this city!
Storm Clouds Gather
This week's passages seem to be a turning point. It's all heading towards Jerusalem... getting darker...
Never smooth.
[For the record, this was the first time in 12 years that i've managed to skate without breaking my arm!]

Sharing - the Struggle
Questions - struggles - etc. Car sharing reduces fuel usage, frees up parking, reduces congestion, allows interesting conversations while commuting. On the downside I can't always listen to my preferred music or podcasts, I have to leave a bit earlier each morning to pick people up and I seldom get time in the car to think...

The Window
This the kitchen window in the church building we use. I really like this window. I love the shape and design of it. A sign of craftsmanship.
Lent Themes - Week 2
Mark 8: 27-38 - Where Jesus asks Peter 'Who do you say I am?' and then Jesus predicts his death.
The Old Testament passage is Genesis 17: 1-16 but I for one don't want to see any photos on that!!!
The Psalm is 22: 23-31. The epistle is Romans 4:13-25.
So, stuff about following along a difficult path, questions, statements of faith, take up your cross...
For some great commentary try Disclosing New Worlds. Good luck!
